Mummascribbles – Zach's party food from The Platter Company – Mummascribbles

Last weekend was Zach’s 3rd birthday (as if you didn’t know!). In previous years I have been hugely organised in every aspect. From the first year with organising a hall, invites, food, cake, presents etc, to the second which was equally as organised being at home. This year something happened. Zach’s birthday fell at a stupidly busy time at work, I was busy organising an event that was happening just two days after and I was completely distracted. His presents were ordered about a week and a half before hand rather than the usual month (at least!) and I picked up the cake stuff just a week before I was due to bake. No trial run was done this year, I went straight in for the kill and pulled it off somehow!

So this year I was completely and utterly unorganised. I knew it and yet there was nothing I could do about it. With both of us working full time, there were just not enough hours in the day to plan how I’d usually plan. Thankfully I discovered The Platter Company and they were my saving grace for giving me more time on his birthday!

The Platter Company are based on the Hertfordshire/Essex border which happens to be just where we live! It’s a local business run by local people and is perfect for the catering of any event. Ours was a small affair but that didn’t matter, they were still happy to provide a great spread for us and deliver for free to our house 🙂

The Platter Company have a mixture of spreads to choose from, some of which are quite basic (which I like!) and some that are a little more deluxe, with a range of sandwich platters, wraps, meat and savoury, children’s varieties and desserts. They also do a range of vegetarian options. It really is hard to pick from such a fab choice, especially when you are only catering for a small amount of people! I managed to whittle it down though and you can see what I went for!

Large classic sandwich platter (BLT, Cheese & Ham, Egg & Cress and Chicken & Sweetcorn)

Mixed wraps platter (Chicken Caesar, Peking Duck, Prawn Mayo and Coronation Chicken)

Traditional British feast (Sausage Rolls, Beef Pasties, Individual Quiches, Cocktail Sausages and Cherry Tomatoes)

Kids sandwich platter (Egg, Tuna, Ham and Cheese)

Scrumptious Dessert Platter (Carrot Cake, Brownie, Millionaires Shortbread and Toffee Crisp)

The fillings I chose were all quite simple, probably a bit selfish of me because I’m not keen on anything overly exotic but they were really tasty and fresh. I’d probably try the more exotic ones next time round though! These platters aren’t cheap of course however I honestly think that the extra cost is worth it just to have had freshly prepared food delivered to my door when I’d spent four hours in the kitchen just making his cake! It was a huge weight off my shoulders to know I wouldn’t have to do any other food prep so it was totally worth it. And I have to say, those toffee crisp desserts were amazing!

The presentation of the food was also really beautiful and looked really impressive when all laid out.

Overall I thought the whole service from The Platter Company was fantastic, from ordering right through to the delivery and eating! I would definitely use them again in the future.

Disclaimer: The Platter Company supplied a selection of this order complimentary in return for an honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
