One year until our wedding day! – Mummascribbles

I can’t actually believe that in just 365 days, I will become Mrs P!

We got engaged just under a year and a half ago in January 2018, and then in the March we booked the date. With it being more than two years away, it felt like a lifetime. And yet here we are, with just a year to go. The countdown is now well and truly on!

But how are we getting on?

Two years is a long time of planning and there are stages where we do a lot, and then stages where it’s all pretty quiet. But as it stands, we have done quite a bit!

The first thing we did was go to a wedding fayre of course! We then found our reception venue, got a date, booked the registry office, and confirmed the reception venue. The next thing we booked was our photographer. We had met her at the very first fayre that we went to and I absolutely fell in love with her style. I cannot wait to see what magic she creates on our special day! That was in the April – it took me a while to build up the courage to tell the other half that I absolutely HAD to have her shoot our wedding – she is pretty pricey and I thought he would say no!

The other thing I booked around this time was my wedding transport. Again, once I decided that I had to have it, I wanted to get it booked in! From there on, things went a bit quiet. I did however ask ask my Mum if she would walk me down the aisle, and my Sister to be my Maid of Honour – to which they both said yes!

Then, in late November, I went dress shopping. I hadn’t planned on going so early, but I saw a dress in a nearby bridal boutique that I absolutely loved the style of, and I just had to go and try it on. It wasn’t the dress for me though, and I tried on about six other dresses in that booking, and fell in love with THE ONE. I then had to convince the other half that it was the one – because it was slightly over my initial ideas of budget! Thank goodness he agreed, I paid for the dress, and it is currently sitting in the shop waiting for me to need it! It is STUNNING and I cannot wait to wear it again!

Quiet once again it went, and then a few months ago we went crazy! As it stands, we have currently booked all of the entertainment (to which I won’t go into because it will ruin it for any guests!), the DJ, the flowers, the cake, and we have also bought our rings (which we need to go and try on). We have our first dance song picked out (which is a secret), and have been thinking about the other music we need for the ceremony. I have asked our little nieces and nephew to be my bridesmaids and page boy, along with our two boys who will be ring-bearers. The other half has picked two best women and has asked his Brother and Dad to be his Groomsmen. Oh and we have sent out the save the dates too.

Things have quietened down again for now, although with only a year to go, there is much to be done. We are going to give our notice of marriage next week, I need to start thinking about invites so that they are all ready to be sent out early next year, the other half needs to start thinking about suits, and then in the new year, I need to sort out dresses for my bridal party.

We haven’t thought too much about a honeymoon. I have sourced a hotel in which I would like us to stay on our wedding night, and then we are thinking about going away for a weekend, just us, the weekend after our wedding. We will think about a holiday with the boys when we know whether we can fund it or not!

And that’s about where we are. There are lots of little things that need to be done – too many to name. But I think we are doing pretty well with what we have got sorted so far.
