Our weekend happy – classes, time at home, and a trip to Carters Steam Fair {AD} – Mummascribbles
AD – Gifted/Review
Saturday 8th June
Saturday started early as always but it did mean that we were pretty organised, although somehow Zach and I still managed to be in a rush for swimming! His lesson was great and he did some super swimming on his back.
After his lesson, we popped into the cafe to grab him a cookie and then we went to the car and drove home where Oscar and Daddy were.
I made some fruit for everyone and we sat and chilled out until it was time for Zach to go to Stagecoach. The other half took Oscar to the shops and I sat and did my usual bit of work while I waited for Zach to finish.
When we got home, Oscar was still asleep so we snuck upstairs and then I made some lunch for Zach and I. We just finished eating when Oscar woke up, so we all went downstairs to see him.
Once he had come round a bit, I went upstairs to tackle one of the jobs I wanted to do – sorting our wardrobes out. The other half and the kids stayed mostly downstairs playing Lego but I was joined after a while because they simply can’t let me get on with stuff without wanting to see me!

Once I was finished, I had three bags to take to the charity shop, so Zach and I took a walk over to the shops, dropped it all off, and then we popped into the shopping centre where I bought a couple of vest tops and ended up buying Zach a new watch too!
When we got home, the other half wondered where we had been! Zach proudly showed off his new watch, and then the other half cooked dinner while I sat with the boys. They spent a bit of time racing too, using the stopwatch on Zach’s watch to time them!

Then dinner was ready and we all sat down to eat. And then it was time for an Oscar shower and then bed!
Once they were asleep, we went downstairs and I faffed around on my phone instead of working, while watching Notting Hill!
Sunday 9th June
The other half got up early with the boys and I snoozed for a while. Once I’d woken up properly, I went downstairs, had my cuppa and brekkie while the other half showered, and then got ready while the other half was pumping up the boys new bouncy castle! It was given to us by the leader of the playgroup we go to at the end of our road, and she is also a dinner lady at Zach’s school and he loves her!

Zach originally wanted to come to football, but then wanted to stay home to play, but it meant Oscar wanted to as well, so I made us all go in order to get him to class!
He loves it when Daddy is there to play with, so I sat on the sideline chatting to my friend, Zach helped Oscar’s friend and the coaches, and Daaddy and Oscar played all the games.

Once it was over, we drove home and the boys went straight out into the garden to play on the bouncy castle, I hung the washing out and the other half made a very early lunch for us all as we were going out.

Once we had eaten and got sorted, we went out to the train station and went on our way to Lloyd’s Park in Walthamstow.
I mentioned in a previous post that we had been invited to visit Carters Steam Fair, so that’s where we were heading for the afternoon.
When we arrived at the park, it took a little walk to find the fair but we eventually stumbled upon it and the boys were super excited!
The first place we headed to was the carousel (which is technically called a Galloper!), as the boys had been going on about there being one.
After that, Zach and Daddy went on the ghost train and Oscar went on another merry go round.
We then went on the aeroplanes which the boys loved, and then while Zach and I went on the bumper cars, the other half went off to another little ride with Oscar.
At this point we felt a break was needed, and so we used our vouchers for the hook-a-duck which both boys won a prize on, and then we went and got some candy floss!
After they (and we) had devoured that, they went on the little boat ride, and then we used our final passes for another ride on the carousel.
And then I grabbed a cup of tea, resisted the mammoth urge for a donut (I knew it would cause chaos with the kids), and we left the fair with two very happy and tired boys.
There were a few rides they didn’t go on, which were a bit too spinny and bit too fast for them, but overall they did pretty well with the amount of rides they got on.
We were provided with passes for a number of rides, meaning we didn’t have to buy tokens. It would have been a pretty expensive trip if we hadn’t, but I have to say, the fair is totally worth the money and I would have happily paid for them to go on them. Each ride lasts for ages so you do really get your money’s worth.
We stayed in Lloyd’s Park a little longer. First the boys explored the outdoor gym equipment and then we popped to the play area where the boys had some fun.
When it was clear they were both pretty exhausted, we walked back up to the train station and made our journey home. It started raining as we were walking home, so I sped up because I knew my washing was outside and dry! So my first port of call was to get that in, and then Zach decided it was time to get the bouncy castle down! Oscar and I sat inside watching TV while he did that, the other half cooked dinner, and then I briefly went out to help Zach a bit.
After dinner, the final bit of the bouncy castle was done (it’s hard work), and then Oscar hurt himself a couple of times so we ended up back on the sofa watching TV until it was time to get them both ready for bed.
Once they were asleep, I spent the evening working and watching Erin Brockovich before we went to bed!
