Our weekend happy – playing, park fun, and a bit of soft play for one! – Mummascribbles
Since Oscar stopped rugby, I have been taking Zach to swimming myself. It saves Oscar having to sit around waiting, and it saves any confusion of him thinking he’s got a class. It also gives Daddy the chance to have some one to one time with his littlest man.
So up we got (after I had the best sleep I’ve had in almost two and a half years), we got ready, and Zach and I jumped in the car and he was in the pool minutes later! He had a great lesson and is doing really well. Once he was finished, we popped to grab a snack from the cafe and then went back home.
Meanwhile, the other half had taken Oscar to the park to see the ducks and animals, and have a walk, and it looked like they were having lots of fun together!

Back at home, Zach and I played with his storycubes, using his wild imagination to make up stories. We did that for about half an hour and then it was time to make him some food before we needed to leave for performing arts.

Once we were there, Zach went into class and I grabbed my laptop out to do some work, drunk my tea, had a snack, and then later ate a sandwich that I had taken because I knew I’d be hungry early!
Then Zach came bouncing out like he always does and we went home. Oscar was still asleep when we got there so we snuck upstairs and the other half snuck out to the barbers.
It wasn’t long before Oscar woke up and it also wasn’t long before the other half came back home. He has now learnt that the right time to go there is when Spurs are playing!
We spent some time pottering around the house and then I nipped over the road to get my eyebrows threaded and grab a couple of bits from the shops.
When I got home, it was very much time for a cup of tea and I managed to sneakily eat the dark chocolate bounty that I had bought!

Zach came and found me and decided that he wanted to go in the garden and blow bubbles, and Oscar had to join him.

It was pretty chilly though, so it wasn’t long before we went back in and it was time for me to start on the lasagne. The other half sat with the boys, doing some sticking and painting while I cooked.

And just as I’d pulled the lasagne out of the oven, Oscar (who had been a bit moany over the preceding half an hour), threw up everywhere! Next came the mad clean up operation and we managed to still have dinner! We then bunged a pongy Oscar in the shower and got the boys both up to bed, then we had our usual Saturday night of work/computer/ITV shows!
Sunday 3rd March
Well our Sunday went a bit wrong. Oscar was supposed to have his first football class, only he woke up with a temperature and clearly wasn’t feeling great, so he didn’t go. He spent most of the morning lolling around and barely eating. He then did a bit of a dodgy number two. We were supposed to be going to the other half’s brother’s house to see all his family, but we all decided it probably wasn’t a good idea. Zach did a bit of finger painting but was pretty bored, and every now and then Oscar had a perkier moment!

The kids all had a FaceTime together and then we said our goodbyes and the other half took Oscar out for his nap while Zach and I went upstairs. He played a bit with his Lego but he was impatiently waiting for daddy to come home so we could play monopoly.
The other half got back, made some lunch and then came and joined us so we started playing.
Zach got bored after a while but it was perfectly timed for Oscar waking up. He still had a temp and was clearly feeling poorly, only wanting Mummy. I was going to take Zach to soft play but Oscar wouldn’t let me leave his side, so the other half took him on the train to one instead. He very much needed to run off some energy!
Oscar and I spent the afternoon on the sofa, watching TV and movies, and I did a bit of editing of this post, and then when the boys got home it was time for dinner and bed. I watched Dancing On Ice, did some client work, watched a bit of The Greatest Showman, and then went to bed myself – ready for the new school week ahead!
It’s a real shame that our weekend had to end the way it did, but I am glad that the other half got Zach out to have some fun!
