Siblings (January 2017) – Mummascribbles

If there is one thing I’ve learnt this month it’s that you just can’t keep siblings apart. After four months of being brothers, my boys still absolutely adore each other.  There has been a little hint of jealousy from Zach, mainly when I go to feed Oscar and he purposefully sits in the seat I’m heading for or when he suddenly wants to cuddle my tummy as I’m about to put Oscar onto the boob. Other than this though, the love is still well and truly there.

The issue I’ve had this month is when Zach got chicken pox. At first my initial thought was that I needed to try and keep them apart as best as I could. No kisses and skin to skin cuddles. Immediately I saw that this was going to be difficult with Zach being incredibly sad that he couldn’t kiss his brother. As if he didn’t feel rubbish enough with the illness!

When I then discovered that actually, Zach had already probably been contagious for a good couple of weeks without us knowing, there didn’t seem any point in trying to keep them apart and so we’ve just gone with the flow. We’ve tried to be a bit careful, and especially with Oscar’s waving hands as we don’t want any scratches to those scabs but otherwise it’s been business as usual. Yes, it’ll be a massive pain for absolutely everyone involved, especially Oscar, if he does catch it, but the reality is that he was exposed to it without our knowledge and so it could have been caught at any time.

My absolute favourite photos therefore from this month are these that I took on day 5 of the pox – my finally feeling better Zach with his adoring little brother. My beautiful siblings!
