Mummascribbles – A fancy new jacket from Trespass – Mummascribbles
It’s that time of year when it starts warming up a little. You get to the point where your winter coat is too thick but your summer jacket is too thin, especially when you are out for a walk.
We live near a very beautiful country park that stretches for miles (if only Zach would walk that far!) and different parts of it can have quite different weather. That can be a mixture of blazing sunshine and shady wind. It’s always really hard to have the right thickness of jacket on for one of our walks.
When the people at Trespass recently got in touch to see if I wanted to review one of their products, it was one of those times where I decided to be completely selfish and get something for myself. I have a raincoat that I have had for years and so decided that a new one would be very welcome. I decided to opt for the Minturn Ladies Softshell Jacket. The thing that drew me into wanting this jacket was the fact that it’s a 3 in 1. There is an inner and outer jacket which unattach from each other. This means that you can wear it using the two jackets together, the outer jacket alone or the inner jacket alone. I mean how ruddy cool is that? The jacket is also waterproof, windproof, has coldheat insulation meaning your body heat is held in and has a detachable hood too. It is basically everything you could need for any weather! Which is great in March in England (or any month for that fact!).
So, what do I think of it?
Well, honestly? It is AH-MAZING. I could not have made a better choice. We headed on out for one of our lovely glorious walks last weekend and the weather was a real mixture. It was pretty fresh to start, a tad windy but then the sun shone through! The perfect condition to test it in all its forms!
I started out with it complete. It is so comfortable and so warm. I felt protected against the wind that was biting through us as we fed the ducks (I feel the cold really badly), but I wasn’t too warm. I ordered it in a large as I always tend to go a bit bigger with a jacket as there’s always other clothing to fit underneath. That, and with my growing bump, I want to be able to wear it for plenty of time to come but to still fit me at the other end for all those maternity leave country walks! There is plenty of room without it looking huge and I was able to move around freely which is important when feeding the ducks!
As we walked and reached the canal, the sun came out and it was the perfect moment to unlayer it down to the inner jacket which is thin and gorgeous.
It was the perfect thickness for the temperature at that moment and it was really easy to unattach. It’s hooked up with two zips on either side and three poppers (behind the neck and on each sleeve) and then bobs your uncle, it’s out. I can see me wearing this part of the jacket a lot through the spring months and even on those slightly chillier summer days.
One of the great things about this jacket is the amount of pockets it has. It has pockets on the outer jacket and pockets on the inner jacket. It also has a special pocket inside that is purposefully for your phone as it keeps it warm. Did you know that the cold can drain your phone battery faster than warmth? Neither did I!
The design of the jacket is also lovely. I adore the lining of pink around the trims and the pink zips. And the inner jacket has a pattern on it which I really like.
I am totally in love with this waterpoof ladies coat in all its forms and it is made with such quality that I know it’ll be worn for years. The only thing I didn’t get to try out was it’s waterproof abilities but I’m not going to complain about that – it means it hasn’t rained! I have no doubt though that if it did bucket down, underneath that coat I would remain completely warm and dry.
I was very kindly sent this jacket by Trespass for the purpose of this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
