Our weekend happy – water fights, bouncy castle fun and lots of garden time! – Mummascribbles
Well the boys got up pretty early and I really wanted to go back to bed but it was instantly apparent that Oscar didn’t want that to happen! Instead, they decided very early on that they wanted to have some fun with sink and float at the kitchen sink. Safe to say water ended up all over the floor but they had a lot of fun!

Once they were done, I’m sure they requested food and then we got ready. As I was upstairs having gotten ready, I decided to start on the boys room – mainly their book collection which was in a right mess. They were upstairs playing in their room alongside me and the other half was sorting out the garden and was soon jet washing the patio.

While he was busy doing that, I had some lunch, made some for the kids, and then took the dog out for his walk.

When I got back, the boys were begging us to put their little bouncy castle up. I was at the same time, trying to arrange a video call with my Mum and Sister, so we quickly jumped on Whatsapp and all had a chat together, with the boys and my Nephew as well. The other half started putting up the bouncy castle and then when I was off the call, I went out and did the rest until it was done and in position. The boys had loads of fun bouncing on it for ages.

Once they were bored with that, it was time for sports! They both started off with a bit of Basketball, then Zach and I played some tennis (I say played – it went all over the place!) and then the cricket set came out and the other half and Oscar tried to play, although Buster was at first quite keen to catch the ball and then play piggy in the middle!

It was soon time to get them in for dinner and whilst it should have been a bath night, we knew they were going to spend most of Sunday outside so figured there wasn’t any point! So the other half took the dog for a walk while I got them in their pj’s, and then we put them to bed – and Zach read Oscar an extra book on the top bunk!

At 8pm, a guy down our road was due to be playing music from his front garden to entertain the street from all our own front gardens. Oscar was fast asleep but Zach was still awake, heard the music and wanted to come see. He ended up staying out there with us until twenty past nine and felt like a very big boy. It was lovely for the street to have some entertainment and I can see a big street party once this is all over!
Sunday 5th April
The cat woke me up at 4.30am. I snoozed until 6am, put Oscar off of getting up for another 45 minutes, and then popped downstairs very briefly before going back to bed! And I had dozed off into a dream when Zach came in and snuggled up to me, waking me up! He left me again and I dozed a little bit more and then I heard them come up to play in their bedroom, meaning it wouldn’t be long until they were in jumping on my bed.
Once I was up (I took a while to get out of bed cause I had a cracking headache), I went down, made tea, had brekkie, made them food, and then got in the shower. The boys had their water pistols out in the garden for a while and Oscar very quickly got soaked, and then we got the bouncy castle back from the bottom of the garden where we had left it, popped air into the bits that had gone down a bit, and then the other half took the dog out for his walk while the boys and I sat in the garden. They bounced and we played I spy, and then I went in and made them lunch before hanging some washing out.
The other half arrived back, made our lunch, and then we spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden. The boys bounced, raced each other, did bug hunts, and played more sport! I sat and did some colouring and the other half was watching something on his phone, and it was all very lovely and very relaxing. It kind of felt like we were on holiday, with nothing to do and just each other and sunshine to enjoy!
The boys suddenly were a bit worn out, so we went inside, got them some food, and chilled out on the sofa while the other half made dinner. I carried on colouring since I was made to sit while they watched Paw Patrol and played on the tablet, and Oscar had a little lay on me and almost fell asleep.
Luckily he perked up for dinner and followed it with a run around the front room and a bath while I walked the dog. And then it was bed time!
We managed to have another lovely weekend and the boys are managing remarkably well with not going out further than the garden. I see families on the dog walks all the time, but feel it is far safer if it is just one of us taking the dog (who is about ten months old and needs a lot of exercise!) for a walk. They haven’t really batted an eyelid about coming with us so we shall keep it that way.
