The perfect home interiors for a cosy Winter – Mummascribbles
This is a collaborative post
There is something so special about Winter isn’t there? I know by the end of it, we Brits are almost always desperate for a bit of Spring sunshine but when the real Winter actually arrives, well, it’s just a bit lush.
Ok, the torrential rain on school runs is no fun and the de-icing of the cars is, well, a little bit annoying, but those fresh crisp mornings. The dew draped spider webs. The frost covered trees and grass. Well, it’s just a bit beautiful if you ask me. Chuck in a bunch of snow and you have the most divine setting.

The other thing that is wonderful about Winter is being able to cosy on down in our homes. Getting snug under the duvet at night. Wearing fluffy slipper boots ALL the time. And if you are like me – sitting on the sofa working in your dressing gown! Although sometimes with the heating on and the laptop keeping my lap warm, it can get a little toasty.
It’s the best time to make your house a cosy retreat. Because let’s be honest – we all stay indoors a lot more at this time of year and therefore, home comforts are an absolute must.
I will admit that I am not the best at styling my house, let alone for a specific season. But with the help of this ebook published by Chill Insurance, it’s made it much easier to see what colours and fabrics I could introduce to my home this Winter.
So what are my top five finds to make home super comfy in this super cold weather?
A rug
Something I have wanted since forever to be honest. Well, since we moved in more than three years ago anyway. We have wooden flooring which at this time of year can get pretty chilly. And with the boys wandering around with bare feet and me finding myself sitting on the floor playing with Oscar for large parts of the day, a rug is truly something I would love. We didn’t bother getting one because Oscar was busy using his walkers to get around the house but now that he is properly walking, he doesn’t really need them anymore and they are simply for play. We have a bit of a deep purple theme going on in our front room and this rug would be perfect.

Cushions
They are the ultimate comfort aren’t they? You can never really have too many cushions to keep you cosy on the sofa. We already have a selection that match our curtains but we could certainly add in some plain purple ones – to totally match that rug up there! These ones look super fluffy for added cosiness.

Candles
I love candles but so often don’t have them lit because of the boys. But when I do have them, they have to be gorgeously scented and make my home smell of comfort. I love having them in the living room, in the kitchen and in the bathroom. I love the look of this winter set from Yankee Candle and would have them spread throughout the house, with a couple set in the bathroom for that special day when I actually manage to have a nice relaxing bubble bath!

A throw
With those cold Winter nights, nothing says snug more than a gorgeous fluffy throw on the bed. The softer the better, the fluffier the better, the more luxurious the better.

A winter plant
My final thing that can add warmth and character to a cosy house is a good plant. I will admit that I am not the best at keeping these alive but thankfully the other half remembers to water them! This gorgeous Winter Azelia would be a perfect addition to a warm Winter house.

So there we have my Winter warming interiors. What would you like to add to your home to cosy it up a little bit? My dream is to have a gorgeous real fireplace and mantelpiece but that’s not realistic right now!
